How to Remove Coffee Stains from Carpet

Coffee spills usually happen when we’re in a rush, but it’s important to treat a stain immediately or it will sink into the carpet fibers, and become much harder to treat. Especially true when the coffee contains milk or cream, because it can become foul if left to fester. So here’s your first defence against coffee stains on your carpet:

  1. Blot up as much of the coffee as you can with a paper towel or clean dish cloth.
  2. Then, mix one tablespoon of liquid dish soap, one tablespoon of white vinegar, and two cups of warm water. Using a clean, colourless cloth, dab the stain with the mixture. Apply a little bit at a time, blotting frequently with a dry cloth.
  3. Finally, sponge with cold water and blot dry.
  4. Next, assess the carpet. If it’s not entirely clean, or for a valuable carpet or area rug, you might want to call Complete Steam Clean for all your carpet cleaning needs and to ensure that the carpet is perfectly clean.
